Part of the overcoming series of books, overcoming body image uses CBT techniques to provide a step by step self help course.

This book is for anyone who has a preoccupation with their appearance that causes them dissatisfaction or distress arising from eating disorders, disfigurement or unhappiness with weight or shape. The book includes treatment for body Dysmorphic Disorder and issues related to body image. All books in the overcoming series have exercises to explore your thoughts, feelings, sensations and actions. I really like the exercises in this book. It helps us to break down thoughts, feelings and actions down step by step  in manageable ways so that we can see how body image issues are maintained. Some of the chapters include  'setting yourself on the right course', 'building a new attitude towards yourself', 'special problems in disfigurement' and 'putting all the principles in action'.
